Святослав Вакарчук
Svyatoslav Vakarchuk (Ukrainian: Святослав Іванович Вакарчук; born May 14, 1975, Mukachevo, Ukraine) is the lead vocalist of Океан Ельзи, the most successful rock band in Ukraine.
He was active in supporting the Orange Revolution, and is involved in many social and cultural projects. He is one of the most successful musicians in Ukraine and has a degree in theoretical physics.
By the year 2007, he has released six (6) studio albums together with his band Океан Ельзи:
1. "Tam, de nas nema" (There, where we aren't, 1998),
2. "Yananebibuv" (I was in heaven, 2000),
3. "Model" (2001),
4. "Supersymetriya" (Supersymmetry, 2003),
5. "GLORIA" (2005),
6. "Mira" (Measure, 2007),
and also one (1) acoustic album "Tviy format" (Your format, 2003).
The Ukrainian magazine "Korrespondent" ranks him as one of the 100 most influential people of Ukraine (in 2008 ranked 55).
In the early parliamentary elections on September 30, 2007 he appeared as an independent candidate on the Our Ukraine–People's Self-Defense Bloc's list (as nr 15). In the Verkhovna Rada he was a member of the parliamentary committee for freedom of speech questions. In early September 2008 he renounced his seat in the Verkhovna Rada due to the new political crisis.
In 2008 year Svyatoslav Vakarchuk presented private project "Vnochi" (In the Night), released self-titled album. This album released under the name of ideological mastermind Svyatoslav Vakarchuk, but it worked on all musicians Океан Ельзи and many guest musicians.
